A New Chapter of my Life
Some Special events happen during this 3 months...
POP as A Sea Soldier
I POP during 10 Jan 2005, it was held at parade square in Changi Naval Base. We did a special opening for this parade. A normal parade, ppl march in neatly, our SWO (Senior Warrant Officer) wan us to run out from several different places into the parade square. Our attire wasnt all the same, one grp was wearing no.3, one grp was RHIB, one was FBO, one was MOP4, one i think was sbo, each represent a section of our task in changi naval base.
Start of my OJT(On-Job Training)
My OJT start after one day rest at home, after POP... I was supposed to be there at 0800 wif my duffel bag, i was there... at 00645 =.= too early rite as my duffel bag was damn heavy, i took a cab there, cost ard $26 from west to east... 40 of us was split into 2 grps, Grp A & B... i was in grp B, then i get to go home at 1700 while grp A had to mount duty. At changi naval base, we do 24 hour duty, there are a lot of posts in changi naval base, we sometimes do not get to choose where we wan to go... some are really shiong, some are really slack... We were quite unhappy during this period of time as this is wat happened... E.g I had to arrive in CNB by 0800, do some physical training until like 0840, then change into long 4, catch the 0900 bus to canteen to have our breakfast, draw our arms... began our duty at ard 1100 all the way to next day ard 1100, we will dismount from our duty, return our arms and go eat lunch and slack or sk until 1700 then we can go home... we found it abit stupid... and it is going to last for 3 weeks...
Graduated Operational Sea Soldier
On Feb 4, we were declared operational sea soldier... after the 3 weeks of OJT, we learn and get to do almost all the posts in changi naval base, however we are still not very "zai", we still lack of experience.. we are all now split into 3 platoons.. As the sergent read out the names of who is going to wat platoons... i found out tt my name and my buddy names was not read out... then i found out tt we were both sent to the armoury to be armskoteman in the future... wah... so lucky rite... me n my buddy... out of 40 ppl... dunno whether is good or bad...
Present
I m still doing duty... no news of the armskote posts at all... wondering and floating at the same time... I m currently stuck at a post tt is not very popular among my peers as it required u to stand them for like 3+ hours, but i think it is really not bad to do tt post... out of 17 duty, i having been doing like 10+ times on this post... now i m in a fix... whether to be at this post or go to armskote, hope GOD can lead me to the right one...
I found out tt some Singaporean Taxi drivers are terrible, very greedy and hopeless...
if u have read some news tt some US Carriers came to changi naval base to perth on Feb 5-8, in my entire life, i nv ever see so many taxis gather at one place... in 1 min, u can see ard 6-8 taxis coming in to the carpark... the whole thing last for 1 1/2 hours... i was standing at the post, directing the taxis out of the base, the scene was like the nearly half of the Singapore Taxis are here in the base... =.+^|||
U Know wat i heard over the walkie talkie during my duty, "how much u pay from orchard to changi?" $10, $20? U know how much the taxi driver charge tt poor US fellow? $60+!!! tt's Outrageous... some charge by heads, like per head $20- $35 =.= how much did they earn from them????
In future, if u happened to drop by changi naval base, please do not go to the canteen to buy food, they are terrible $$$^vampire^$$$... wat make me says tt is because they are very clever, they went and buy many SUBWAY 1 Foot long and PiZZahut, and resell it to the american... U guess the difference when charging us and the americans???
Local
- Subway 1 foot: $8
- regular pizza : $12
American
- Subway 1 foot: $17
- regular pizza : $22
and sometimes not all american has singapore currency, they juz pay in US$, that means sometimes they get to earn like 4 times... =.=|||
What has the world becomes...! My seniors says wat i see and hear is juz the beginning, there's more to come... I will update the blog wif more stories when other foreigners come ba... lolx...
